Python is a multi-purpose programming language that is used by companies big and small. Notable companies that use Python include Instagram, Google, and Pinterest. Python is a simple language to learn because it doesn’t have too many rules, yet it’s powerful enough that most of today’s Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning programs are written in!
Programming languages handle words and sentences (strings) differently compared to, say, numbers. We are going to begin this course exploring these special tools around handling strings. Students will move on to learn more advanced list operations that are similar to those of strings. Finally, we will learn to group parts of their program into functions.
By the end of the course, students will finish a final project that incorporates strings, lists, and functions. On top of programming skills, students will gain soft skills from explaining their solution to peers, thereby understanding how others are solving the same problem in different ways.
